Report from Save the Children Offers Plan to Get Refuge Children into School

In observance of World Refugee Day on June 20, Save the Children issued a report titled Time to Act: A Costed Plan to Deliver Quality Education to Every Last Refugee Child. The report’s authors noted that more than half of the world’s school-age refugee children—3.7 million—are not in school, and without access to school, these children do not have a future.

The report sets forth what Save the Children calls “a realistic, global plan to ensure that refugee children get to go to school.” The plan calls for action in three areas: 1) inclusion (support for including refugees in national education systems; 2) improvement (increasing efforts to ensure children are learning; and 3) investment: mobilizing the funding necessary to scale up access to quality learning opportunities for refugees.
