The Global Reading Network (GRN) cordially invites you to a presentation on Friday, October 13, by two of the world’s leading education advisors on complex educational systems change. The program will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Chevy Chase, Maryland, in the offices of Reading within Reach, the USAID-funded initiative which established the GRN.
Both panelists examine the evidence on public and private returns to increasing and sustaining investments in reading/literacy skills, including productivity and growth benefits to business and the economy. Dr. Harry A. Patrinos, Practice Manager for the East Asia and Pacific Region of the World Bank’s Education Global Practice, will discuss a recent World Bank-commissioned paper, “The Case for Investing in Early Grade Reading.” Dr. Luis A. Crouch, Chief Technical Officer with RTI’s International Development Group, will present on outcomes from reading/literacy investments in the Asia region from a forthcoming publication, “Why Should Asia Invest in Early Grade Reading?”
