In celebration of UNESCO’s World Book and Copyright Day on April 23, the nonprofit Akshara Foundation is conducting a campaign to provide 900 workbooks for 900 children to help them perfect their written English skills. For the last five years, Akshara has implemented its English program, Swalpa English Thumba Fun, in 574 government primary schools in the state of Karnataka in southwestern India. The workbooks will be distributed to students in 37 of those schools. This is one of a number of programs that Akshara runs supporting education in Karnataka.
