MSI GLOBAL EDUCATION SUMMIT

File Description:

As part of Diversity Abroad’s commitment to building capacity for study abroad and comprehensive internationalization at minority serving institutions, Diversity Abroad will host the 2nd Annual MSI Global Education Summit geared towards academics, practitioners, and administrators at Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) who are working to internationalize their campuses. The MSI Global Education Summit is designed to enhance the institutional capacity of MSIs to integrate international education efforts into the current campus climate. The 2017 MSI Global Education Summit will be held March 19 & 20, 2017 in Minneapolis, MN just prior to the 5th Annual Diversity Abroad Conference.

Why MSI Summit?

MSIs educate an overwhelming number of minority students. However at a time when study abroad and other international programs are becoming increasingly important for competitiveness in the 21st Century, students from MSI as a whole are far less likely to engage in international opportunities in comparison to their counterpart at non-MSI institutions. To that end, the MSI Global Education Summit will serve as a critical forum for networking, sharing of best practices, and collaboration among colleagues from like institutions to reach a common goal; ensuring students from MSIs have the skills, knowledge and experience to be successful in the 21st Century.

SUMMIT GOALS

  • Create a community of international education professionals from Minority Serving Institutions
  • Connect participants with the resources and tools needed to develop or enhance the effectiveness of their international education office and build capacity to increase global mobility of their students
  • To inspire participants to be active advocates for international education on their campuses
